Could you use a fresh start today?
Spring is in full swing, and that means we’re entering the season that is all about growth and renewal. What better time to make a fresh start…whether it is a baby step or a big step!
What’s gonna be my fresh start this month?
I’m taking baby steps to improve my physical health by participating in a 30 day challenge to move more. Just 30 minutes each day for 30 days. I can totally do that! And, I have a great support system to help me enjoy the journey and appreciate my body for the ways it can move. I have lots of fun options to incorporate those 30 minutes of movement into my daily life, and I’m excited to find the ones that really make me happy.
What is your fresh start?
If you don’t yet have one, there are some great ideas in today’s post!!!
I have a treat for all of us!
Today, I present you with a post by my very first guest on Starrhealthyself.com, P from Finding Pure Happiness!
My Morning Routine for a Fresh Start!
After struggling with infertility due to a toxic relationship with diet & exercise, I needed to find ways to incorporate healthy living in a way that wasn’t all or nothing and that included mostly natural ways to live and eat. I’ve been on a mission over the last few years to truly feel healthy and happy in my body and mind.
One way I incorporate healthy living is to have a morning routine. Especially now as a momma to two, my morning routine is sacred! For me, true health comes from what we eat, how we exercise and how we take care of our mind. These are the things I kept in mind when creating my morning routine. Below is the schedule I follow every morning to insure I have a fresh start!
- Set my alarm for 5am: I know this is SUPER early for some. Trust me, it is for me too, but I find that allowing myself to wake up gradually is key to starting my day off right!
- Splash cool water on my face & dab on a few drops of my “grounding blend” essential oils: Splashing cool water will instantly wake you up and make you feel refreshed! I also like to dab on my EO and breathe it in to wake up my senses and make me feel grounded. Most companies will have a blend that you can purchase or you can create your own. I would look for subtle light scents that make you feel calm. My particular blend has: Spruce needle/leaf, Ho wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy Flower and Blue Chamomile Flower.
- Do some stretches: I have a few stretches that I do every morning to get my muscles moving and my spine realigned. I’ve found that my neck and shoulders tend to be sore when I first wake, so this is a great way to get things loosened up!
- Drink warm lemon water: I like to warm up a glass of water and add some lemon juice and a drop of lemon EO to help wake up my digestive system and flush out any toxins from the day before.
- Get my diffuser going and breathe: Depending on the time of year, I usually like to run either citrus or cinnamon scented oils through my diffuser to get my whole house smelling good and ready for the day. I also like to sit Indian style with my eyes closed and take 3-5 deep breaths. I find this relaxes my mind and lets all the thoughts of what I need to accomplish for the day come to the surface.
- Make my to-do list: Now that I’ve let my mind relax, I’ll write down all the thoughts that went through my mind and prioritize them by importance. This sets up my day with the top things I need to get done so that I don’t feel frazzled and like I have a million things on my plate!
And there you have it! These are the things I do every morning to ensure I have a fresh start to each day. If you haven’t set up a morning routine for yourself, I’d highly recommend it!!
XOXO,
~P

Love this! I need a fresh start that’s for sure! The past week my 2 girls have been since and I think I’m catching it too! I was suppose to start running again but the germs and the weather don’t want to agree. My fresh start will stat Monday as I hope by then the germs are for the most part controlled. I’m loosing my daily mini workouts!

Love this! It definitely takes planning and intentional effort to put our fresh start into practice. Your ideas are practical and would be easy to implement but will make a huge difference! I am guilty of rolling out of bed at the last second and racing to get ready for work and then feeling stressed out all morning.

Yay! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed reading along, <3

Peaceful mornings tend to lead to more peaceful days for me…but I don’t always remember that… 🙂

I have been working on morning routines. I am not a morning person but know I desperately need to get myself on a schedule. Right now I’m doing a 30 day Push challenge to help with making a to do list. I really need to look into these essential oils that everyone talks about 🙂
P. Jeanne says
Yes! Makes a huge difference getting up early 😀 Good Luck!!
Starr W says
Essential oils are fantastic! They’re good for pretty much everything! I’ll be talking about them more this month.

This is an awesome morning routine! I’m just starting to get in a routine of getting up earlier so I have more time in the mornings too.
Starr W says
Getting up earlier is only tough for a little while. I just have to remind myself to go to bed at a reasonable hour!

This is a good list! I also thing washing my face and some exercise is essential! Never thought to drink warm lemon water, thanks for inspiring!
Starr W says
I like to get my exercise in before my shower. It just makes me feel more accomplished for the day.

I also depend on a morning routine for my physical health, and that’s what I’m focusing on this month!

Thank you! It is tough, but I’m hanging in there!

Oh I liked this. I wish I could wake up at 5 am and everything else. Super hard.
Starr W says
I already get up at 515-530ish, so I don’t know why 5 would be all that different for me. I really need to get to bed earlier.
Sadie says
I really liked this post! I love how you wake up and make a to-do list once you get all woken up! It’s just such a smart and simple way to get your whole day organized! I’m going to make it a priority to do so as well!
Fiona says
Firstly I would like to congratulate P on finally being able to have her children. That is wonderful. As for morning routine, yours sounds so relaxing. I have been doing the lemon water for sometime now I find that it is even relaxing just drinking it. I try to have time to myself before anyone else gets out of bed as once they are up I am then on the go.

I’m actually starting a new challenge myself on Monday. At work, we have teams and we are all trying to “walk” the Appalachian Trail by logging our steps each day! Great ideas to get a good start to the day.
Starr W says
I love the “walking” the AT!!!

Best Wishes on your 30 day challenge! I was considering doing one myself…but of course the time never seems to be right :). I am going to make a plan, set a date and go for it.
Starr W says
Best wishes to you, too! It is definitely challenging, but I’m doing my best and being gentle with myself. 🙂
Marjan says
Wow what commitment! I could use some of that… May have to start rethinking my morning routine as well, and I love essential oils as well, they sure make a difference in feeling well.
